Woman charged with stealing car and credit cards in Holland Township

HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. — A woman is in custody after deputies said she stole a car and attempted to make purchases with stolen credit cards early Monday morning.

The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office said it was alerted to a vehicle that was stolen from a mobile home in Holland Township near Mountain Ash and Maple streets around 2:10 a.m.

We are told that the victim’s purse and credit cards were inside the car when the theft took place.

About two hours later, reports came in of a woman attempting to use the victim’s credit cards at a gas station in Grand Haven Township, deputies said.

The township’s public safety department arrived at the scene when the suspect attempted to flee in the stolen car, according to the sheriff’s office. The suspect reportedly abandoned the car after hitting a curb and running to a nearby business where she climbed over a 15ft high stack of pallets and threatened authorities.

Deputies tell us the woman was later arrested and taken to hospital, saying she will be taken to the Ottawa County Jail once she is released.

We are told that the stolen property has been returned to the victim.
